Cat Enrichment and How You Can Help
At Carbon County Friends of Animals, one of our primary focuses is creating an environment of love, safety, and acceptance for the cats in our care. Many of our residents have experienced the difficult and heartbreaking sides of life—abandonment, neglect, or abuse. Because of these traumatic pasts, they often arrive afraid, anxious, and unsure of the world around them.
This is where cat enrichment plays a vital role in their healing process. Enrichment isn’t just about toys or playtime; it’s about fostering a space where these cats can trust again, open their hearts, and step out of their small worlds of fear and stress. It’s about nurturing their emotional and social development, allowing them to feel safe, loved, and accepted just as they are—right where they are in their journey.
Our wonderful staff dedicates themselves to this cause, but you can play a part too! By simply spending time with our cats, you can make a profound difference in their lives. When you visit, take a seat in one of our adoption rooms. Allow yourself to become part of their day. Watch as they cautiously absorb your presence and, little by little, let them absorb you too.
This mutual exchange benefits both humans and cats. Your presence helps them build confidence, learn to trust, and take those critical steps toward finding their forever home. For you, the experience can be deeply rewarding, offering moments of peace, connection, and joy.
Your time can be transformative—not just for the cats, but for you as well. By being part of their journey, you’re helping them heal and bringing them one step closer to their happy ending.
Thank you for being part of our mission. Together, we can make a lasting impact, one paw at a time.

🐱 Cat of the Month: Serena
Featured Cat of the Month: Serena
Meet Serena, a one-year-old cat with a story that embodies resilience and joy. Serena came to us six months ago with a rare eye condition that required multiple surgeries to correct her eyelids. The road to recovery was long and difficult—she spent much of her kittenhood wearing a cone and adjusting to the healing process.
Despite all she endured, Serena emerged with a spirit full of love and gratitude. Her eyes, while smaller than average, are a beautiful reminder of her unique journey. She has vision—though not perfect—but she doesn’t let that hold her back.
Today, Serena is our beloved office cat, and her happiness is contagious. She greets every visitor with enthusiasm, basking in the freedom of roaming after months confined to a cage. Her playful, affectionate personality lights up the room, and her purrs of contentment remind us of the strength it took for her to get here.
Serena is looking for a forever home that will celebrate her uniqueness and honor the incredible cat she has become. She deserves an adopter who will provide her with endless love and security—a family who will cherish her for the special soul she is.
Come visit Serena at Carbon County Friends of Animals. Let her win your heart, and you may find she’s the missing piece in your life. Serena’s journey is one of triumph; now, she’s ready to start her next chapter in a loving home.
