🐱 Cat of the Month: Buddy
Meet Buddy – Our Lovable Teddy Bear!
Buddy is 8 years and 11 months old, and he’s been with us for 10 weeks—just waiting for the right person to fall in love with him. He’s a big, fluffy sweetheart with a gentle, laid-back nature. He’s not in a rush about much, but he loves affection, little treats, and greeting the people he knows.
You can usually find Buddy in our hallway, but he likes to tuck himself away inside one of the cat houses—so if you don’t see him right away, make sure to seek him out! This adorable, loving boy needs someone who will treasure and protect him for the rest of his life. Could that be you?
Come meet Buddy at Carbon County Friends of Animals—he’s waiting for you! ❤️
✨ Monthly Message from the Board
A Message from the Board: The Lucky Ones and the Unseen Ones
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Walking into Carbon County Friends of Animals can stir a mix of emotions—joy, because every cat in our care is safe from harm, and sorrow, because they are still waiting for the loving homes they deserve. A shelter, no matter how dedicated, is not the same as a home. It is a place of refuge, but it is not a place where they can truly belong.
Yet, these cats are the lucky ones. They have been rescued from the unseen suffering that plays out beyond our sight—on the streets, in the alleys, in the hidden corners of our communities where abandoned, lost, and feral cats struggle to survive. Many endure hunger, disease, harsh weather, and dangers that no living being should face. Some were once cherished pets, now discarded or forgotten. Others were born into a cycle of suffering, never knowing warmth or kindness.
For every cat we take in, there are more out there—unseen, unheard, and unfound. And even among those we do see, we sometimes have to say no, not because we want to, but because our resources are stretched thin. Space, funds, volunteers—these are the lifelines that allow us to care for the lucky ones who make it through our doors. But there should be no “turning away” when lives are at stake.
This is where you come in.
Last month, we made an appeal: If 2,000 people committed just $10 a month, we could secure the future of our shelter, ensuring that we can care for the cats who need us—today, tomorrow, and beyond. We must grow our ability to meet the need. More funding means more food, medical care, space, and the ability to say “yes” to more cats in need. More volunteers mean more hands to clean, feed, socialize, and show these cats the love they need to heal and find homes.
If you have a heart for these cats, please step forward. Become a monthly donor. Join us as a volunteer. Share our mission with others. Every action matters, because for these cats, we are their only chance.
For those who find a stray and wish to help, please visit our website and read our blog post, “Life saving steps ,” which offers practical steps to assist cats in need. We do our best to intake as many as we can, but when we can’t, we manage a waiting list, and we ask for patience as we work through it. We will get to you. Together, we can make a difference.
Let’s come together as a community—because every cat deserves to be one of the lucky ones.
With gratitude,
Carbon County Friends of Animals Board of Directors

We don’t have a large budget or a big corporate team—we’re a small nonprofit organization with a big heart. But the bulk of the work that keeps our shelter thriving is done by our small staff and volunteers who care. If you can see the need, please step up.
